Over the years I tried the old-school “playing into a cup” technique on some recording sessions and live gigs, but I always found it awkward – especially when trying to aim the sound into a mic. MORE IMPORTANTLY, I found it quite limiting when trying to just play “freely”, the way I normally do. Here is what I came up with…
The Harp Wah was my solution to this problem.
It works great.
Better than a cup in my opinion. It’s not meant as a replacement for good hand cupping technique on the harp. It’s a very different cupping effect which gives a player another sound option for acoustic harmonica.
